Play in the Dogfight

                                                      

Each Friday, Saturday & Sunday the MGA meets for a little friendly competition at       
The Club.

Come on out!  Join in the fun!

 

Sign up by calling the Pro-shop at least one hour before tee time. 

TEE TIME: 12:30 P.M. Friday.  1:00 P.M. Saturday. Any time Sunday
 
Check your email for schedule exceptions and cancellations.

Please CHECK IN at the Pro-Shop at least 20 minutes before tee time.

Dogfight entry fee is $5 (may be paid with credit card along with cart fee).

Gross Skins (optional) ante is $5 (this must be cash)
Net Skins (optional) ante is $5 (this must be cash)

Only Dogfight players may compete for Skins

RULES of PLAY:

USGA Rules will be followed as modified by MGA Local Rules .

 

 

 

 

Friday Trend Handicaps, adjusted for chosen tees, will be used for both Friday and Saturday competition.  Course Rating adjusted handicaps are:

  • White tee – White tee trend handicap,
  • Gold tee – Gold tee trend handicap minus 2 for men +2 for women,
  • Black tee – Black tee trend handicap plus 2
  • Red tee - Red tee trend handicap.

 

The Dogfight is an individual competition scored with the following point system: 

  • The lower of Equitable Stroke Limit or Triple bogey -  minus 1 point
  • Bogey - 1 point
  • Par - 2 points
  • Birdie - 4 points
  • Eagle - 6 points
  • Double eagle - 8 points

Each time player will attempt to earn a required number of points equal to 36 minus their adjusted handicap.  For example.  Player A with a handicap of 7 must earn 29 points.  A players net points earned is their total points earned minus required points

Winners are determined by comparing net points earned, the higher the better.  Believe it or not, sometimes a negative number wins.

Certificates useable for golf, merchandise, food or beverage are awarded to the top 25% of the field.

SKINS Anyone?

Optionally, you can join in the Skins pool.  A skin is awarded to the single golfer with the lowest net score* of all golfers in the Skins pool on each hole.  In the event of a tie no skin is awarded for the hole. 

At the end of the round each skin is award an equal share of the skins pot.

* net score is the player's gross score minus his or her handicap relative to the low handicap in the field for the hole determined by distributing his adjusted trend handicap minus the lowest adjusted trend handicap of all players entered in the skins competition in order of hole handicap as listed on the score sheet.  The maximum handicap relative to the low handicap is 15 (no strokes are given on holes 9, 12 & 14)
