Announcing: The Club at Rawls Creek First Annual Match Play Tournament1

July 19, 2010 to August 29, 2010

You must register by July 19, 2010 and have 20 scores recorded on the handicap computer.

[The field is limited to the first 32 qualified entrants.]

Entry fee: $6.00 per person2

[Standard cart and greens fees apply.]

Other Details:

  1. Once 32 players have entered, the names will be placed on a 32 player bracket.

  2. Players will be responsible for scheduling their matches in each round within a week.

  3. The tournament is single elimination [similar to the final 32 in the NCAA Basketball tournament.]

  4. Trophy for the winner.3 Prizes will be distributed as follows: Winner – 50%; Runner-up – 30%; Two third place finishers – 10%.

  5. In the event that matches are not held within the required time, the tournament committee will decide if either or both contestants must be disqualified.

  6. Matches can be played in the regular weekend Dogfights.

How will handicaps be determined and applied in The Match Play Tournament?

Where two golfers are competing with different handicaps, the lower handicap is subtracted from the higher handicap and the difference is applied to the tougher holes in order. This rule will be applied even if the difference is more than 18 strokes and results in the higher handicap golfer receiving two strokes on one or more of the tougher holes. To determine handicaps for the match, we will use the tee box charts and the index that are posted each Friday on the MGA bulletin board [next to the handicap computer]. The indicated handicap for each golfer will remain in effect until the next Friday’s index is posted.

1 Handicapped, 18 hole match play, from sex or age appropriate tees. [See attached.]

2 $5.00 for the prize kitty. $1.00 for the MGA.

3 To be awarded by MGA at annual awards party.
